“Assisted living sees highest year-over-year growth compared with other areas of long-term care,” by Kimberly Bonvissuto, McKnights Senior Living
“After double-digit increases over the past several years, the national median monthly rate for assisted living increased 5% in 2025, suggesting a period of relative stabilization for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, according to findings of the 2025 CareScout Cost of Care Survey, released Monday. Yet the median rate increase in assisted living was higher than any other form of care studied in the survey. Most care settings saw year-over-year rate growth of 1% to 5%, although adult day services saw a decrease in rate compared with 2024. And although the 2025 findings suggest that the rapid rate acceleration in the recent past has eased, the baseline rate for long-term care remains ‘historically high,’ according to CareScout, a subsidiary of Genworth Financial. The national median annual rate for a one-bedroom assisted living unit in 2025 was $74,400, and the median monthly rate was $6,200, and the median daily rate was $204.”
