Updated Scope of Appointment form

We’ve revised the Scope of Appointment (SOA) paper form. You will no longer need to document exceptions to the 48-hour waiting period on the form. The revised SOA form will be available on Producers’ University on April 1 and should be used moving forward. It must be completed in its entirety and retained for 10 years. You may need to provide it to Cigna Healthcare upon request. Note: Although you may use a generic SOA form, we highly encourage you to use our Cigna Healthcare branded form.

As a reminder, CMS requires agents to document the scope of a personal marketing appointment at least 48 hours before the appointment to ensure an understanding of what will be discussed between the agent and the Medicare beneficiary or their authorized representative. The 48-hour waiting period is waived for SOAs completed during the last four days of a valid election period and unscheduled in-person visits (i.e., walk-ins) initiated by the beneficiary.
