There’s a question that comes up with these products that I want to take a second to explain.

“I’d really like to get my client a Recovery Care policy, but they don’t qualify because he/she has Alzheimer’s. But, you’re telling me my client that has cognitive impairment can get approved for a Home Care Plus policy? What’s the catch?”

We understand it’s challenging for folks with cognitive impairment to get any type of insurance. Your client who has cognitive impairment can absolutely qualify for a Home Care Plus policy.

Keep in mind, we won’t pay for claims related to cognitive impairment if your client has been previously diagnosed. Just like you can’t buy car insurance after you’ve wrecked your car and expect your insurer to pay for the repair.

We will pay the claims your cognitive impaired clients qualify for. And if you have a non-cognitive impaired client who is diagnosed with cognitive impairment after having a Home Care Plus policy and requires Medically Necessary services that meet the parameters of the policy – we’ll pay those claims as well.

Being able to provide coverage to these folks is an important differentiator for this product. If we add cognitive impairment as a knockout, this product becomes very similar to our Recovery Care product. If your client can qualify for Recovery Care, that’s fantastic. If they can’t, Home Care Plus gives them an option.
