“A total of 19 organizations, including the National Alliance for Care at Home, LeadingAge and the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation, have signed onto a letter urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to rethink the severe Medicare provider enrollment provisions in the home health proposed rule. … The provisions, which drew immediate fire from home care providers, expand CMS’ latitude to revoke or deny Medicare enrollment. Reasons include abuse of billing privileges, false or misleading information, extension of revocation, high-risk based on location, certain misdemeanor convictions and change in majority ownership. As part of the provisions, CMS would expand the reapplication bar — prohibiting a provider from re-enrolling for up to 10 years — for any enrollment denial reason.”

CMS’s reasons to revoke Medicare support—abuse of billing privileges, providing false information, legal convictions—seem pretty solid. Why not get on board and help shut down fraud and abuse instead of fighting against reasonable measures?
