“In 2025, number of home health agencies ticked up, bucking trend, new chartbook says,” by Suzy Frisch, McKnights Home Care
“For the first time in a decade, the number of home health agencies treating traditional Medicare beneficiaries saw an increase, halting a slide in providers that dates back to 2015. The home health sector experienced a 1.9% increase in agencies, growing to 9,961 in 2024 from 9,775 the previous year, according to the 2025 Home Health Chartbook from the National Alliance for Care at Home and The Research Institute for Home Care.”
LTC Comment, Stephen A. Moses, President, Center for Long-Term Care Reform:
Why are new home health agencies surging all of a sudden? Home health is especially prone to fraud because services are dispersed and closely involve family members. The Centers for Medicaid and Medicaid Services (CMS) are keeping a close eye on this sector.
