Long-term care insurance crisis: Soaring premiums, policy buyouts, and ‘deceptive’ tactics,” by Nathan O’Neal, Fox 9 KMSP

“Tens of thousands of Minnesotans are facing rising insurance rates for their long-term care insurance despite a promise of ‘stable’ and ‘affordable’ premiums. Long-term care insurance is supposed to cover expenses for aging adults, including nursing homes and memory care. Insurance provider CNA is now facing a class-action lawsuit which calls the company’s practices ‘deceptive’ and ‘underhanded.’”

LTC Comment, Stephen A. Moses, President, Center for Long-Term Care Reform:

We’ve seen it all before: one-sided criticism of LTCI. There are many strong counter-arguments. Shall we hear from CNA? I hope so. But what matters is that LTCI’s defenders know that its benefits outweigh any faults and that we are prepared to explain why.
