State indicts 9 people on charges of fraud and theft involving Medicaid,” by  Alison Hartzell, Cleveland.com

Quote:

“Attorney General Dave Yost on Friday announced nine Medicaid providers had been indicted with counts of fraud and theft involving the government health care program for the poor. … The crimes were investigated by Ohio attorney general’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, which collaborated with federal, state and local authorities, Yost said. The charges included falsifying timesheets, billing for in-home services while clients were hospitalized or traveling and improper care of clients.”

LTC Comment, Stephen A. Moses, President, Center for Long-Term Care Reform:

We’re going to highlight stories about Medicaid fraud as the federal government strives to control the problem. States have little incentive to combat Medicaid fraud because most of their program budget comes from the federal government, often vastly leavened by legalized money laundering. Now that the Feds are getting wise, state-level Medicaid fraud is popping up everywhere.
