Updated: Written Strategy for Extended Care—Refined by Advisor Feedback

At Thrivent, we believe no financial plan is complete without a written extended care strategy—and a clear way to fund it. That funding may include assets, income, insurance, and family support, with long-term care insurance often serving as an economically viable solution.

To support these conversations, we introduced the Written Strategy for Extended Care in June 2024. This discovery worksheet was designed to guide extended care planning discussions regardless of a client’s preferred funding approach—and it quickly became one of our most popular resources.

For 2026, the worksheet has been refreshed to reflect our new brand and, more importantly, advisor feedback. The updates strengthen its role within Thrivent’s Foundational Approach to Extended Care planning by giving clients a clear framework to discuss:

  • How a care event could affect them and their family
  • Where they would prefer to receive care
  • Who they would want providing that care
  • Which funding options may make sense for their situation

Access the updated tool today to help customize an extended care strategy for your clients.
