Why Bruce Willis’s Family Moved Him into a Separate Home,” by Lee Pruitt, ElderLawAnswers

“Making the difficult decision to move a loved one into a care facility, as Bruce Willis’s family did, often becomes necessary when home care can no longer meet complex health or safety needs, or when caregiver burnout occurs.”

LTC Comment, Stephen A. Moses, President, Center for Long-Term Care Reform:

This article seems thoughtful, caring, and informative until you consider the source. The people behind ElderCareAnswers derive a substantial portion of their income from artificially impoverishing affluent clients to qualify them for Medicaid. Adding insult to injury, they promise access to the best care that poor people on Medicaid can’t get. By holding back “key money” the well-to-do buy their way into the best nursing homes and LTC providers as short-term private payers taking advantage of the providers’ desperate need to attract higher paying private residents. The poor people Medicaid is supposed to serve get the dregs of welfare-funded LTC.
